CNN is looking for a Vice President, Streaming Merchandising, responsible for daily editorial decision-making and content optimization for our 24/7 streaming news service. This leader will execute programming vision, oversee a tactical team, and collaborate with teams across web, mobile, and O&O platforms.

This role requires an experienced digital news leader with expertise in live news programming, editorial judgment, and data-driven content strategy, balancing agility and strategic planning to maintain an engaging streaming experience.

Your Role Accountabilities…

Editorial Programming & Daily Execution

• Oversee real-time programming of the streaming service, ensuring a dynamic mix of feeds, segments, and curated news packages.
• Manage the daily content and coverage calendar in alignment with Global News and Programming teams, coordinating breaking news with scheduled and evergreen content.
• Lead content placement and curation for carousels, segments, and programming blocks.
• Partner with Growth Marketing to test promotion practices and engagement strategies.
• Work with news editors and video teams to identify high-performing content and optimize placement.
• Develop best practices for content selection, breaking news protocols, rotation cadence, and audience engagement based on analytics.
• Attend daily news meetings to align streaming merchandising with the news agenda.

Programming

• Optimize live event programming for streaming.
• Coordinate with live operations and video production teams for seamless execution.
• Align streaming programming with editorial priorities and leverage unique streaming opportunities.

Collaboration with Adjacent Digital Teams

• Maintain cohesive content strategy across web, mobile, and O&O platforms.
• Partner with growth and audience teams to understand engagement and optimize content.
• Collaborate with product and tech teams to enhance UI/UX for content discovery.
• Coordinate with marketing to promote programming and increase audience awareness.

Team Management & Leadership

• Lead a team of digital editors, schedulers, and producers.
• Provide editorial guidance and real-time decision-making support.
• Establish workflows integrating planning and live decision-making.
• Maintain relationships with newsroom, video, and technical teams for smooth content execution.

Qualifications & Experience…

• 10+ years in digital news or programming, with 5+ years in leadership.
• Proven expertise in live news coverage and digital content management.
• Strong editorial judgment and understanding of news cycles and audience behavior.
• Experience with streaming content curation and discovery optimization.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, real-time environment.
• Deep knowledge of newsroom operations, video workflows, and digital platforms.
• Experience leading and developing collaborative, high-performing teams.

In compliance with law, we disclose salary ranges: $157,500 - $292,500 annually, with additional benefits including bonuses, incentives, and comprehensive health and wellness programs.
