Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our team to produce clear, accurate, and user-centered technical documentation for our software platforms, as well as documentation to support product development and communication. This role will work closely with product owners, software developers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex technical and scientific concepts into accessible documentation for diverse audiences, including developers, end-users, internal and stakeholders. The schedule for this position would be 8 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. This position is based out of the Overland Park, KS, office, but has the ability to be primarily remote for an individual local to the Kansas City Area.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Writing Responsibilities:


  • Create and maintain high-quality software documentation, including user guides, API documentation, integration guides, release notes, and system architecture overviews.

  • Collaborate with software engineers and QA teams to understand system functionality, workflows, and code behavior.

  • Develop onboarding materials, tutorials, and troubleshooting guides for internal and external users.

  • Organize content for easy navigation and searchability, using documentation platforms.

  • Ensure technical documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with brand voice and style guides.


  • Assist product owners in crafting documentation that explains the rationale behind features and functionalities.

  • Ensure consistency with current industry standards and terminology.

Required Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, scientific writing, or a closely related field strongly preferred.

  • Strong grasp of software development processes, tools (e.g., Git, Jira), and familiarity with programming concepts (e.g., APIs, RESTful services).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a meticulous attention to detail.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

  • Candidate must reside in the greater Kansas City area and be available for on-site training in our Overland Park, Kansas, office and occasional travel to our Missouri locations.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering) or English/Communications with demonstrated experience in technical/scientific domains preferred, but not required.

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum product development environments.

  • Background in data analysis, computational modeling, or familiarity with scientific software platforms.

  • Familiarity with regulatory writing (e.g., FDA submissions, ISO standards) a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
